The Universe Will Test You
I was inspired to create The Mindful Muse because I wanted to share my interpretations of how the universe operates. I felt called to share my discoveries based on my personal stories and my understandings of books I’ve read, especially around manifesting.
You can’t talk about manifesting without mentioning the work that comes with it like overcoming limiting beliefs, healing your inner child wounds, and being tested by the universe. I can recognize when I am being tested, it starts off with me feeling like life is putting me through the wringer. Once I notice myself thinking, “Why is this happening to me?!,” I pause and I ask myself, “What is the universe trying to teach me?” and “What is the lesson I need to learn?” I observe life as a classroom; our experiences are lessons, and the universe is our teacher.
When you decide to level up and work on a goal, your thoughts on this goal must be expansive. If you have limiting beliefs, this is the time to work through them. Anything limiting, like fear, is a block. In my case, lack mentality around money is my block.
In October, I decided to get serious about my financial goals. I set a plan in motion to start working towards the life I envision. Still, one of the belief systems I constantly need to work through is around money and abundance as I am sure many of you can relate.
Your emotional state, which will influence your thoughts, can act as another block. You should feel excited about manifesting! You’re calling in a desire that you deserve and are worthy of. When you connect to love and joy, the universe will co-create with you to bring forth your manifestation while matching your energy. Low energy will block or attract something that is not in your highest and greatest good.
Although I set clear intentions for myself while being fully aware of my belief system, without realizing it, I was manifesting from a place of fear. I was afraid the plan was going to fail, it would be too challenging to sustain, and I even proclaimed that my budget was really tight now. This leads me to another note about manifesting - it’s not just your thoughts that matter, the words that you speak matter just as much.
Our thought patterns support our belief system. For example, if my belief is that I never have enough money, then the thought patterns that support that might be, “Everything is expensive,” or “I can never save because something always comes up.” I remind myself that money is currency, it holds energy, and it’s meant to be used. Affirmations help me transform my thought patterns. One affirmation I aways turn to is, “The universe always provides.” It’s simple and I’ve seen proof in big and small ways.
However, the universe will test you. These tests present themselves as challenges, detours, or delayed plans. You may get frustrated, caught off guard, or if you’re anything like me, panic and anxiety will overcome you until you surrender. In these moments, it is important to stay present, pay attention to your thoughts and emotions. Gabby Bernstein, who is an author, life coach, and motivational speaker, explains in her book, Super Attractor, how to climb the emotional ladder to find the next best feeling. This is something I practice now, especially when I am feeling overwhelmed and anxious.
Tests are not pleasant; they force us to face our fears and identify the energy that’s blocking us. My test came in the form of unforeseen dental expenses. Once I got over the anger and frustration, I realized there was nothing left for me to do but see it through. I surrendered. Past experiences have served as proof that everything always works out and this scenario was no different.
As I conceded to the situation at hand, everything became clearer. When life presents us with challenges, there’s only so much we can control. It’s best to focus on those things within our control, making decisions that feel right and aligned with the best possible outcome. Anything else outside of our control, we must trust that it will fall into place. No matter what, we are being supported and guided towards the best outcome.
The lessons you take with you are for you to understand. In my case, I felt like the universe was reminding me to trust in my intuition, acknowledging my efforts, while shouting, “You got this, keep going!”
